A Lot Can Happen In A Week.

A Lot Can Happen In A Week.

I read this post on Instagram this week and it was too good to not share! (@iansimkins- a pastor from Toronto)

' It begins with a parade. Crowds shout 'Hosanna!' and wave palm branches, welcoming Jesus as king- but not the kind of king they expected. His entry is humble, riding on a donkey, confronting our assumptions about power, glory and control.

Then a towel and a basin. The King of the Universe kneels to wash feet. In a world obsessed with heirarchy, Jesus shows us that love stoops low. That leadership is service. That greatness is found in humility.

He prays in a garden. Alone, anguished, abandoned by his friends. The One who stilled storms wrestles with the weight of the cross. ' Not my will, but Yours be done,' he prays. Surrender is not weakness - it is the truest form of strength.

Then comes the arrest. The trial. The mockery. The cross.

The sky darkens. The curtain tears. The Saviour breaths His last.

It feels like all is lost.

But even in silence, God is at work. Even in death, resurrection is coming. Holy Saturday reminds us that waiting is sacred too- that the grave is not the end of the story.

Then Sunday.

The tomb is empty. The stone is rolled away. Death is defeated. Hope lives again.

In just seven days we move from celebration to suffering to surprise. From waving palms to pierced hands. From burial linens to resurrection light.

This week is not just something to remember - its something to live. Holy week is an invitation to slow down, to enter into the mystery, to walk with Jesus through every moment. Not as distant observers, but as disciples who dare to believe that the story is still unfolding in us.

Because a lot can happen in a week.

He can flip tables in our hearts. Wash away our shame. Carry our burdens. Break our chains. Silence our accusers. And call us by name.

From the basin to the cross, from the grave to the garden- this is the week that changed the world.

And it can change us too.
